Mad Cow Disease Overview

Definition:a deadly brain disease that affects cattles and some other animals like sheeps and goats that is iincurable
= Mad Cow Disease is a part of Transmissable Spongiform Encephalopathy
Medical name: Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy
Symptoms: attack people, stagger as they walk, kick their owners, eat other cows --> agressive

- the milk and muscles(meat) are less likely to be infectecd with the disease
- being a brain and nervous system disease, eating meat with/contain nervous system will be more likely to catch the disease
- human, especially caucasians (rarely other races) have a certain gene that makes it easier to catch the disease
- realized a series of symptoms in england in 1985
